This tour – new for this season – will see the world’s best skiers and snowboarders meeting to compete for Freeriding’s largest-ever cash prize – US$ 300 000.
Freeriding is a referee-adjudicated sport where the competitors choose their own route down a mountainside. The referees assess the degree of difficulty for the riders’ choice of route and how skills and control are used in mastering it.

Nissan FWT is composed of the following five competitions:

  • Nissan Mammoth Challenge, USA, 22-26 Jan
  • Nissan Caucasus Classic, Sochi, Russia, 31 Jan-5 Feb
  • Swatch O'Neill Big Mountain Pro, The Alps, 24 Feb-2 Mar
  • Nissan Freeride de Tignes, France, 9-2 Mar
  • Nissan O'Neill Xtreme, Verbier, Switzerland, 14-23 Mar

Sweden is represented amongst the 36 invited participants (14 male skiers, 14 male snowboarders, 4 female skiers and 4 female snowboarders) by Kaj Zackrisson and Marja Persson in the ski classes and Daniel Furberg and David Magnusson in the snowboard classes. In addition the skier Henrik Windstedt has been given a wildcard.

Daniel will be filing reports through freeride.se , which is Scandinavia’s largest site for freeriders with more than 60 000 members and 180 000 unique visitors monthly. Daniel will be writing an introduction here at xdin.com with links to the articles at freeride.se.

Right now Daniel is busy doing intensive high-altitude training at Engelberg, Switzerland. Engelberg has been experiencing its best pre-season since 1981, so the training conditions could not be better for Daniel.

Xdin wish Daniel the best of luck and are looking forward to following his progress on the Freeride World Tour.
