XDIN DESIGNING SUPER SPORTS CAR

Xdin currently has consultants involved on development at the supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg in Ängelholm. Following experience gained at VCC in platform work with six-figure volumes, the adjustment to working with a producer of around 20 vehicles annually has been huge. The engineering department, whose members can be counted on the fingers of one hand, works at a fast rate, with all members of the department working on just about all details of the car.

All development takes place in close collaboration with the production department, which is located in direct connection with the engineering office. Xdin has enjoyed a significant degree of freedom and a lot of responsibility. From the first concept sketch, A-yte-styling, design, choice of suppliers and materials, to the ready-implemented physical detail in the vehicle.

New air intakes for the front and rear hoods
Xdin people have been working on the design and construction of new air intakes for the front and rear hoods made from carbon-fiber based on customer requirements. This measure was essentially for the sake of design, but at the same time the manufacturer took the opportunity to develop the design on the underside too, thus improving the intercooler’s function through improved airflow in the engine bay.

Stiffening the rear line

An additional part of the work was the development of stiffening the vehicle. The solution using an extra strut in the rear line also forced a re-design of the air filter canister and the engine’s intake manifold.
New double rear wing

A further task was to design and construct a F1-inspired rear wing in carbon-fiber. As well as gaining a new attractive wing, this brought about a significant improvement in drag and downforce movement; the product of Xdin’s calculation engineers.
