Saab Bofors Dynamics utilize the Business Modeler® modeling tool in order to handle balanced scorecards based on the company's processes, which is a radical new way of thinking.

Saab Bofors Dynamics AB is a Swedish high-tech company, with some 1 450 employees, active in the defense industry. Since 1995 Saab has used a scorecard system in the original and traditional format based on function and organization.
During 2005 the management decided to direct the scorecards towards the processes instead. Handling balanced scorecards in relation to processes is a entirely new way of thinking, one which proved to very successful. Saab abandoned their traditional scorecards as they considered it to be more natural and smarter to base them on the processes, as it is these that control the company.
The coworkers thoroughout the entire life-cycle chain at Saab; Production, Hardware production, Development and Service and others receive information about the digital scorecards via the company Intranet, where all the information about process-orientated scorecard models resides.
As an enabler in the creation process Saab have used Xdins modeling tool Business Modeler® - which is used for the graphical description of of models and images and that facilitates a clear description of the business's processes, distribution of responsibilities and requirements from the outside world.
